President Yoon Suk Yeol will make a state visit to the Philippines and Singapore from the 6th and attend the ASEAN Summit in Laos.

The ASEAN summit is expected to be attended by Japan's new Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, which is expected to be the first summit with President Yoon.

will first make a state visit to the Philippines and Singapore to discuss ways to promote cooperation.

In particular, the Philippines plans to resume nuclear power plant construction, which has been suspended since 1986, and nuclear cooperation is expected to rise to the agenda during this visit.

In Singapore, he will deliver a speech on the theme of "Unification Vision for the Indo-Pacific of Freedom, Peace and Prosperity," which is expected to be the first opportunity to explain the meaning of the August 15 reunification doctrine to overseas audiences.

Soon after, President Yoon will move to Vientiane, Laos, where the ASEAN summit will be held.

From the 10th, he will attend the ASEAN-Korea Summit, the ASEAN+Korea-Japan Summit, and the East Asia Summit.

At the ASEAN summit, which will be the third time since taking office, President Yoon plans to establish a Korea-ASEAN "comprehensive strategic partnership" to elevate the Korea-ASEAN relationship to the highest level.

A senior presidential official said the two sides are holding bilateral talks on the premise that the Japanese prime minister will attend the ASEAN summit.

The presidential office emphasized that the trip will serve as a new opportunity to expand Korea-ASEAN relations in all directions, promoting multi-layered cooperation with ASEAN and further strengthening cooperation with ASEAN, Korea, China, and Japan.
