An emergency general meeting of members of the Korean Medical Association is expected to be held on the 10th of next month, which will determine whether Lim Hyun-taek, president of the Korean Medical Association, will be impeached.
Kim Kyo-woong, chairman of the Korean Medical Association, said in a phone call with YTN today (28th) that he confirmed the proposal for an extraordinary general meeting over the weekend, adding that he will hold an extraordinary steering committee tomorrow to decide the date and time of the general meeting.
He then explained that it seems difficult to physically hold an extraordinary general meeting on the 3rd of next month, as delegates have to participate in the meeting in person, and chances are high that it will be held on the 10th.
Earlier, 103 out of 246 delegates from the Korean Medical Association proposed a no-confidence motion, saying that Chairman Lim defamed the Korean Medical Association by speaking rudely.
According to the articles of association of the Medical Association, if two-thirds of the delegates present at the general meeting and two-thirds of the delegates present agree, Chairman Lim will immediately step down from his post.
