A highly pathogenic AI and avian influenza occurred on a spawning farm in Donghae, Gangwon Province.

It is the first avian influenza outbreak at a poultry farm this fall, and there are more than 200 poultry farms within a 10-kilometer radius, putting quarantine on alert.

Reporter Song Se-hyuk covered it.

It is a farm that raises 700 chickens and 80 ducks.

Quarantine workers are busy with the access road under control.

The Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Quarantine Headquarters examined the samples of chickens that died on this farm and finally confirmed them as highly contagious AI and avian influenza.

Earlier, when 50 chickens died suddenly, the farmer reported them to Donghae City, and the quarantine authorities began to preemptively bury chickens and ducks raised on the farm.

It is the first time this fall that highly pathogenic AI has occurred on a poultry farm, and five months after the confirmation of the Changnyeong farm in Gyeongsangnam-do.

Gangwon Province has designated a 10-kilometer radius of the farm as a quarantine area and strengthened disinfection and forecasting around five farms related to epidemiology.

In addition, all poultry farms, workplaces and livestock vehicles nationwide have been ordered to suspend movement for 24 hours.

The quarantine area raises more than 10,000 poultry at 207 farms, raising tensions.

[Song Mi-ryeong / Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs: Please make every effort to manage the quarantine of laying hens and large-scale laying hens farms so that highly pathogenic avian influenza does not affect the supply and demand of eggs close to people's lives.]

The quarantine authorities asked livestock farmers to report suspected symptoms such as the death of poultry or reduced feed intake immediately.
