Former lawmaker Yoon Kwan-seok, who was indicted in the so-called "Democratic Party Money Envelope" case, has been convicted.

The Supreme Court today (31st) confirmed the original ruling, which sentenced former independent lawmaker Yoon Kwan-seok to two years in prison for violating the party law.

Yoon was sentenced to two years in prison in the first and second trials for accepting 60 million won from primary camp officials to provide Democratic lawmakers for the election of Song Young-gil ahead of the Democratic National Convention in May 2021.

Former lawmakers Lee Sung-man and Lim Jong-sung, who are accused of accepting money envelopes, and Heo Jong-sik of the Democratic Party of Korea were all sentenced to probation of prison sentences in the first trial and are currently on trial on appeal.

The prosecution is also continuing to investigate seven former and current Democratic Party lawmakers who are suspected of receiving money envelopes.
