2024.11.06 PM 06:31
The Joint Chiefs of Staff said it conducted surface-to-air guided missile live-fire drills using key assets of the South Korean missile defense system in response to North Korea's successive ballistic missile provocations.

The exercise, which was conducted with the participation of the Air Force Missile Defense Command in the West Sea, mobilized "Cheongung-II" and Patriot surface-to-air guided missiles, and was conducted in a way that intercepted a virtual target.

Among them, "Cheongung-II" is the core power of the domestic low-altitude missile defense system that intercepts North Korean missiles at an altitude of 30 to 40 kilometers.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff explained that the exercise was conducted to demonstrate the South Korean military's ability, posture, and determination to respond immediately and overwhelmingly to North Korea's mounting missile threats.
