The power of the people of the Gyeonggi-do Provincial Council, who are refusing to attend regular meetings, has also decided to destroy the agreement with the Democratic Party of Korea to form a membership.
People's Power held a press conference and claimed, "We have maintained a cooperative relationship according to the agreement signed with the Democratic Party of Korea on June 27, but Chairman Kim Jin-kyung of the Democratic Party of Korea used to operate the biased parliament and the Democratic Party of Korea also agreed to this and violated the agreement between the two parties."
"In this way, the Democratic Party of Korea broke the agreement first, and the agreement clause to replace the chairman of the parliamentary steering committee and the chairman of the Strategy and Finance Committee for a year was also broken," he said. "The people's power will maintain the position of the chairman of the parliamentary steering committee for two years."
The People's Power and the Democratic Party agreed that the Democratic Party will take over the second half of the assembly on June 27, ahead of the formation of the second half of the provincial assembly, and the Democratic Party of Korea will share six and the People's Power seven.
In addition, the chairman of the steering committee and the chairman of the Strategy and Finance Committee will take turns for one year each for the second half of the year.
Earlier, the People's Power refused to attend the regular meeting, which opened on the 5th, and all of them were absent from the plenary session for three days.
As a result, the plenary session's provincial and educational administration questions were postponed and the standing committee's meeting was not held.
The People's Power intends to boycott the agenda if Governor Kim Dong-yeon's political lines, including the recently appointed Deputy Governor Ko Young-in, Senior Secretary for Political Affairs Yoon Joon-ho, Senior Secretary for Cooperation Kim Bong-kyun, and Senior Secretary for Communication Son Joon-hyuk, and Kim Jong-seok, a former lawmaker of the Democratic Party, are not accepted.
Currently, the number of lawmakers by party in the provincial council is 76, 76 from the Democratic Party, and 2 from the New Reform Party. If the people's power is absent, it is difficult to deal with the agenda (a majority of the registered members are in favor of attending).
The Democratic Party of Korea held a condemnation conference in front of the plenary session and said, "The people's power should immediately stop the crippling of the parliament without justification and return to the parliament," adding, "To serve as the chairman of the steering committee for two years is simply a raw deal, and there can be no breaking of the agreement."
