YouTube channel staff won a minimum wage lawsuit against the channel operator, asking him to recognize him as a worker, not a freelancer.
The Seoul Central District Court today (7th) ruled in favor of all plaintiffs in the first trial of a wage claim lawsuit filed by 15 staff members of the YouTube channel "Japap TV" against the channel operator.
The court determined that the operator should pay employees between 6 million won and up to 33 million won per person.
Earlier, the Lawyers for a Democratic Society filed a wage claim lawsuit on behalf of 15 staff members of the YouTube channel "Japap TV" two years ago.
They claimed that they worked on YouTube channel production, such as sound work and filming, but did not write a labor contract and did not receive proper wages.
