Milking is the most needed labor in dairy farms.

Domestic robot milking machines that milk instead of humans are being distributed smoothly, solving the shortage of workers in dairy farms.

I'm reporter Choi Myung-shin on the report.

[Reporter]
It is no exaggeration to say that Lee Hee-sun's daily routine of raising more than 40 cows starts with milking and ends with milking.

We do milking every 12 hours in the morning and evening 365 days a year.

It's fate for dairy farmers, but in fact, there are many times when it's hard.

[Lee Hee-sun / Cattle Breeding Farmers (Imsil-gun, Jeollabuk-do): It seems that almost 90% of the labor force is used by milking. And the rest is simple work, so I just check the condition of the cows and give them beef rice..]

When the cow enters the milking room, the robot arm detects the cow's nipple and inserts it into the oil pipe.

It is a system in which a robot arm recognizes an object that has been breastfeeding time through a sensor and weaves milk while eating feed.

It is a domestic robot milking machine developed by the Rural Development Administration that not only disinfects nipples and milk cups, but also analyzes milk ingredients.

[Ryu Min-ki / Cattle farmer using a robot milking machine: When it was normal milking, it should have been milked at a fixed time in the morning and evening, but now the robot milking machine runs 24 hours, so it's been released from time constraints.]

The cost of purchasing a domestic robot milking machine is 240 million won, which is 60% compared to foreign products. One

robot milker can manage about 50 cows, which is expected to save about 17 million won per year.

[Kwon Jae-han / Head of Rural Development Administration: Using a domestic robot milking machine can reduce milking costs by 40% or 17 million won per year, excluding purchase and maintenance costs]

Currently, there are 14 domestic robot milking machines distributed in Korea.

The Agricultural Development Administration decided to expand the supply in connection with related organizations such as the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

It also plans to use the data collected through milking to improve cows and develop salary management technology.
