The Marine Corps' Northwestern Island Defense Command said it conducted a three-day defense drill on Northwestern Island with 6,600 Marines, army, navy, and air force troops, 10 ships, and 35 aircraft.
The training, which was conducted as part of the 2024 Patriotic Training, was conducted by checking the ability to carry out battles such as responding to enemy drones and fire provocations, treating casualties and evacuating patients in connection with the Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital led by Lee Kuk-jong, the head of the hospital.
As a result, the Marine Expedited Response Unit and the Army's 2nd Expedited Response Division conducted aerial reinforcement drills, evacuated residents of the Northwest Islands, and conducted maritime reinforcement drills using naval ships and landing armored vehicles (KAAV).
The Marine Corps emphasized that it would immediately, strongly, and punish any provocation by the enemy and absolutely defend the northwestern islands.
