The Supreme Prosecutors' Office strongly protested when the National Assembly's Legislative and Judiciary Committee decided to cut all of the prosecution's special activity expenses and specific work expenses next year.

The Supreme Prosecutors' Office issued a statement this afternoon (8th) saying that special expenses are being paid to other ministries such as the National Police Agency, the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Agency, the National Assembly and the Supreme Court, but it is unprecedented and difficult to understand that it is eliminated only by the prosecution.

He also explained that certain business expenses are essential expenses used throughout the prosecution's work, from investigating crimes that violate people's livelihoods, such as digital sex crimes, drug crimes, and industrial accidents, to arresting wanted people.

In particular, he stressed that he is deeply concerned that next year's budget will result in paralyzing the prosecution's function to protect the people, saying that it includes violations of the Serious Disaster Punishment Act, which has expanded its application, and special expenses necessary for investigating virtual assets and deepfake crimes.

Earlier, the Judiciary Committee deliberated on next year's government budget and decided to cut 8 billion won in special activity expenses for the prosecution and 50.7 billion won in specific work expenses.
