The police have decided to extend the special crackdown period as the number of juvenile cyber gambling crimes has not decreased, with more than 4,000 teenagers arrested for participating in cyber gambling for a year.
From September 25 last year to October 31 this year, the National Police Agency conducted a special cyber gambling crackdown and arrested 9,971 people.
Among them, 4,715 teenagers, nearly half of them, were 17 years old, and there were elementary school students such as 9 years old, 12 years old, and 13 years old, according to the survey.
The average amount of youth gambling is 780,000 won per person, and it was found that a 16-year-old male student participated in gambling with up to 190 million won.
The police, who caught 297 operating organizations in the crackdown, arrested 267 adults who operated gambling sites and preserved KRW 126 billion in gambling crime proceeds.
In addition, the special crackdown on youth gambling will be extended by one year until October 31 next year, and advertisements on overseas gambling sites, youth-inducing sites, and SNS will be intensively cracked down.
