POSCO Pohang Steelworks was completely extinguished within 5 hours of fire.

A fire broke out inside POSCO's Pohang Steelworks in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, at around 4:20 a.m. this morning and was extinguished in five hours.

In the fire, one employee working inside the factory was taken to a hospital with first or second-degree burns on his face and hands.

There were also a series of reports of fires, and nearby residents reported hearing several explosions along with the flames.

Fire authorities issued the first stage of response, mobilizing both the personnel and equipment of the competent fire department, and put out the large fire in two hours and 20 minutes, and declared a complete extinguishment at 9:20 in five hours.

Police and fire authorities believe the fire started inside the 3 Finex plant and are investigating the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
