U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has officially named former Army Special Forces member Mike Waltz as his national security adviser.
In a statement on Wednesday local time, Trump said Mike was a strong advocate of his "America First" foreign policy agenda and would be a huge advocate of "peace through strength."
Mike also added that he is a nationally recognized leader and best-selling author in national security and an expert on China, Russia, Iran and global terrorist threats.
The Florida-born Waltz appointee received a bachelor's degree in international relations from the Virginia Military School, then was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army, serving 27 years in the military as Army Special Warfare Troops, National Guard and entered the House of Representatives in 2019.
As an Army Special Forces officer, he has received four bronze growths for his contributions in battles in Afghanistan, the Middle East, and Africa, and has served on military and foreign affairs committees in the House of Representatives.
