After YTN's exclusive report, the Justice Ministry and the Supreme Prosecutors' Office also responded in earnest when President Yoon Suk Yeol ordered to "root out illegal debt collection."

The Minister of Justice ordered the Supreme Prosecutors' Office yesterday (12th) to eradicate illegal debt collection crimes through thorough investigation and maintenance of prosecution, and strictly apply the standards for handling related cases.

Specifically, in principle, we have arrested and investigated minors or disabled people if they have committed habitual illegal loan business crimes or used illegal collection methods such as sexual exploitation and stalking.

YTN reported that a woman in her 30s who was raising her kindergarten daughter alone took her own life after being bullied by illegal loan sharks after borrowing money at an annual rate of thousands of percent in September.

In response, President Yoon Suk Yeol ordered the prosecution and police to root out illegal debt collection by mobilizing all their investigative capabilities.
