Traditional markets often lead to great damage once a fire breaks out, so fire insurance is essential.
However, it was difficult to sign up because of the high risk, and in the future, it will be easier for traditional markets as well as alley merchants to sign up for fire insurance.

In January, the Seocheon Specialized Market in Chungcheongnam-do turned to ashes ahead of the Lunar New Year.
The fire truck was dispatched in 20 minutes and the sprinkler was activated, but it was not enough to stop the fire.
Traditional markets are crowded with shops and lack of facilities to prepare for fire, so once a fire breaks out, it is easy to lead to major damage.
Nevertheless, less than ⅓ of the 1,300 traditional markets nationwide have signed up for fire insurance.
[Jung Hyung-gu / Secretary-General of the Traditional Guri Market Merchants Association: You know life insurance companies. When it comes to fire insurance, just say, "It's a traditional market area," then refuse to sign up.]
Accordingly, the government decided to include market merchants in the joint acquisition of fire insurance through public-private task force discussions.
The joint acquisition system is jointly responsible for the acquisition of goods with a high loss ratio by the Fire Insurance Association,
Not only traditional markets
, but also merchants in alleys, underground shopping districts and commercial districts will be able to purchase fire insurance.
[Park Seung-joo / Director of Disaster Insurance Division, Ministry of Public Administration and Security: How to make the market merchants feel more free to do their jobs. The request made to the Fire Insurance Association should not be too burdensome for merchants to pay premiums..]
The government expected about 270,000 additional stores nationwide to purchase fire insurance under the revision.
