The Korean Medical Association has elected Park Hyung-wook, vice chairman of the Korean Medical Association, as the new emergency committee chairman.

Chairman Park Hyung-wook, who was elected with the support of his major, said it is difficult to talk without a change in the government's attitude, and he also distanced himself from participating in the ruling and opposition parties' consultative body.

Three days after former chairman Lim Hyun-taek was impeached, the Korean Medical Association elected an emergency committee chairman to fill the leadership gap.

Park Hyung-wook, vice chairman of the Korean Medical Association, won 52.79% of the delegates, confirming the election without a final vote.

Chairman Park, an expert in health studies and medical law, emphasized that he would listen to his doctors and medical students' positions to make decisions.

He also urged a forward-looking policy revision, saying that dialogue is not easy without a change in the government's attitude.

He said he would decide whether to participate in the "Youth-opposition council" that includes two medical organizations by agreement of the emergency committee, but drew a line that it is difficult under the current situation.

Earlier, Chairman Park received the support of more than 70 people from his major, including CEO Park Dan.
