The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs announced that the 85th National Martial Arts Day Central Ceremony, which honors the spirit of sacrifice of martyrs who devoted themselves to restoring national sovereignty in Japanese colonial era, will be held at 11 a.m. the day after tomorrow in front of the "Road to Gather the Hope of Independence," a memorial facility for independence fighters at Daejeon National Cemetery.
The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs said that the "path where independence aspirations gather" is a memorial facility for independence fighters who have no descendants or graves, and it was selected as a venue for the ceremony to express the government's willingness to remember all the little-known independence fighters.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs placed a list with the names of 6,478 independence fighters with no descendants or graves at Daejeon Cemetery as well as Seoul Cemetery, Provisional Government Memorial, and Independence Hall so that visitors could check it.
In addition, 33 independence fighters, including Heo Dae-seop (Ae Director of the Order of Merit for Establishment), who was arrested for participating in the armed independence movement in Japanese colonial era and died in prison, will be rewarded this year.
