In Lima, Peru, the venue of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, authorities are on alert to maintain security as North Korea-China World Cup qualifying matches and large-scale protests are scheduled.

The Peruvian National Police Agency wrote on social networking services on the 15th local time that "most of the roads around downtown Lima are closed and some public transport routes have been changed" and asked for cooperation in maintaining security.

The Lima Convention Center will open a summit attended by the leaders and delegations of 21 APEC countries, and the APEC CEO Summit will continue at the nearby National Grand Theater.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match between Peru and Chile will be held at Monument Stadium, about 15 kilometers from downtown Lima.

Police have also stepped up their guard on key driveways, with protesters calling for Boluarte's resignation expected to gather around Lima for a temporary holiday.

On the previous day, protesters clashed with police everywhere around the APEC venue, and injuries were reported.

Peru's air force says it has disabled 35 unauthorized drones around the APEC summit, with 13,000 police deployed throughout downtown Lima.
