Suspicions of prostitution by Matt Gates, the nominee for U.S. Attorney General, selected by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, are spreading.
Two women admitted to prostitution in a congressional investigation and confirmed records of receiving money, one of whom also testified that she witnessed Gates and a 17-year-old high school girl having sex at a party.
On the 18th of local time, the U.S. ABC aired an interview with Joel Lefford, a Florida lawyer, including this.
Two female clients represented by Leopard previously testified in an investigation by the Justice Department and the Federal House Ethics Committee that they had sex with Gates and were paid in return.
According to Leppard, the House Ethics Committee's investigation team investigated the two women and listed the deposit details on the mobile easy remittance service screen operated by PayPal and questioned the alleged prostitution.
One of the clients also testified that he witnessed Gates having sex with a minor when a party was held at a luxury house in Florida in July 2017.
However, the client added that "Gates was unaware that the woman was a minor, and that he did not continue the relationship until he was 18 years old when he became aware that he was a minor."
ABC News reported that the woman, who is now an adult in her 20s, also testified to the House Ethics Committee's investigation team that she had sex with Gates when she was also a minor.
Earlier on the 15th, Lefford released testimony about "witnesses of underage sex" and urged the House Ethics Committee to disclose the results of its investigation into Gates' alleged prostitution.
The House Ethics Committee is expected to meet on Tuesday local time to discuss whether to release its investigation report.
The report was originally scheduled to be released on the 15th, but Gates, a congressman, submitted his resignation on the 13th, the day the attorney general's nomination was announced.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican, appeared on CNN on the 17th and argued that the ethics committee report should not be made public because Gates has already resigned as a lawmaker.
