The mummies of kittens that lived during the Ice Age more than 30,000 years ago have been found in the ice of Siberia, Russia.

A team of researchers, including the Russian Academy of Sciences, said they found a cat and animal that lived about 37,000 to 35,000 years ago in permafrost near the Vadiyarika River in Russia.

According to CT scans, the mummified animal is Homotherium latidens, which is about three weeks old, and is now an extinct large feline.

It has a different snout shape from a lion cub, a large mouth, small ears, a thick neck, long front feet, and a dark brownish-haired coat of 2 to 3 cm in length.

The team described the mummy's head and upper body as almost intact, and the hair was surprisingly soft.

He also explained that it is the first time in paleontological history that the appearance of extinct mammals, which have no link to modern animals, has been revealed in detail.
