Looking at the unusual weather phenomena that have recently appeared on the Korean Peninsula in autumn, I am already worried about winter.

It is predicted that the weather will change significantly this winter due to the overlapping of La Niña with warming. Recently, domestic researchers have analyzed that cold and mild weather can continue for a long time this year.

Reporter Jung Hye-yoon's report.

The sub-zero cold, which lasted for two days, was lifted and the season returned to its place during the day.

For the time being, the weather is expected to be late autumn in the previous year, but it will still be chilly in the morning and evening,
The seasonal clock is expected to take a small step toward winter, with temperatures falling below zero again in the middle and late next week
.

[Lee Jae-jeong/Kweather Forecast Team Leader: Another strong chill is expected to come down in the mid-to-late next week, with temperatures in the central part of Seoul and elsewhere falling by 1-2 degrees Celsius.]

Cold and mild weather are expected to repeat this winter after December, and the cycle is likely to be longer than autumn.

The Arctic sea ice is likely to strengthen the cold,
This is because
All-time warming is a variable and there is a possibility that the temperature will continue to be 'mild weather', which is higher than usual.

In particular, domestic researchers analyzed in a recent study that this winter's warming and La Niña overlap, which is likely to break the law of '3 Han 4 On', the existing winter characteristic of the Korean Peninsula.

[Gangnam Young / YTN Disaster Advisory Committee, Professor of Geography at Kyungpook National University: We recently looked at the periodicity of winter temperature fluctuations on the Korean Peninsula. Among them, this year is the year when warming and La Niña overlap, which are all-time high, and changes in the barometer, including temperature, slow down in short periods and stronger in long periods of more than seven days. Therefore, once a cold wave or warm winter pattern appears, it is highly likely to be longer than a week to 10 days.]

It is not a roller coaster-like weather like autumn, but it is more likely to be 'seven seven temperatures' and 'ten ten ten temperatures'.

Experts say a strong cold spell this winter could continue for a long time or lead to heavy snow.
Mild weather can also cause other problems such as fine dust and pests, he advised.

The Korea Meteorological Administration will provide weather forecast data for this winter with a three-month forecast later next week.
