"Commercial Law Revision Should Be Stopped" Urgent Statement by 16 Presidents, including Samsung and SK

The Korea Business Association and presidents of major domestic companies held a joint press conference and expressed their opposition to the move to revise the commercial law promoted by the National Assembly.

The presidents of 16 groups, including the Korea Economic Association, Samsung, SK and Hyundai Motor, issued an urgent statement today saying that the revision of the Commercial Act would lead to many companies being sued and make it difficult for the board to operate normally.

In addition, he added that this will greatly undermine corporate competitiveness and lower the stock market, appealing for the participation of the National Assembly, the government and the people to recover from the shrinking economic sentiment.

The presidents also expressed their commitment at the corporate level, saying they will contribute to finding new businesses and creating jobs to make a new economic leap forward, and actively promote measures to revive self-employed businesses and the economy of people's livelihoods.

The announcement of the statement was attended by 16 major group presidents, including Samsung President Park Seung-hee, SK Chairman Lee Hyung-hee, and Hyundai Motor Vice President Kim Dong-wook.
