The musical movie "Wicked" has maintained its overwhelming box office No. 1 for two consecutive days, continuing its magical box office success.
'Wicked' is a screen adaptation of a musical of the same name that has been viewed by more than 60 million people around the world since its Broadway premiere in New York in 2003. It depicts an unexpected crisis and adventure in which two completely different characters face each other in a friendship: "Elfava" (Cynthia Erivo), who has not yet discovered her true power, and "Ginda" (Ariana Grande), who has not discovered her true nature.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated computer network for movie theater tickets, "Wicked," which was released on the 20th, topped the box office for two consecutive days. The movie's current cumulative audience is 149,586.
In addition, as of 7:30 a.m. on the third day of the release, the reservation volume rose 16% to 161,161, higher than 138,040 at the same time on the release date. As we get closer to the weekend, the movie "Wicked" is expected to do well in the weekend theater as reservations soar.
In fact, the movie is well-received in all three of Korea's leading multiplexes: CGV Golden Egg Index at 94%, Lotte Cinema at 9.2 and MegaBox at 9.1, and Rotten Tomatoes, a leading overseas movie review site, has a popcorn index of 99%, which is well received by the audience.
Based on its original worldview, "Wicked," armed with attractive stage designs, costumes, and outstanding songs and performances by the cast, has succeeded in attracting audiences in the early stages of its release, drawing keen attention from the film industry to see if it can be the winner of the year-end theater.
