Children's winter clothes sold on Chinese online platforms have found harmful substances that exceed the domestic standard by 622 times.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government said it conducted safety tests on 26 winter clothes for children and infants sold on Chinese online platforms, including Temu, Xu Yin and AliExpress, and found that seven products were inappropriate.

In children's jackets sold at Temu, phthalate-based plasticizers, which can affect reproductive function and irritate the eyes and skin, were detected 622 times the domestic standard.

In children's jumpsuits, phthalate plasticizers were detected more than 294 times the domestic standard, and the pH level was 7.8, which could cause irritation and allergic contact dermatitis.

Children's shoes sold on AliExpress showed lead at about five times the domestic standard and up to 19 times the overalls, and phthalate plasticizers exceeded the standard 3.5 times in infant spacesuits, the survey found.
