Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, proposed a public debate over the amendment to the commercial law, saying he would listen to both the business community and investors' positions and make sure that the Democratic Party of Korea's position was settled.

At an expanded executive meeting, Lee said, "Although the presidents of large Korean companies issued an urgent statement urging them to refrain from revising the commercial law due to difficulties in corporate management, there is certainly public opinion that the weakening of the stock market caused by abuse of controlling management rights cannot be left unattended."

He then emphasized that he would participate in the discussion himself, saying that it is necessary to discuss who is right in a public discussion or whether the arguments of both sides can be combined to reach a reasonable conclusion.

He also said that although there are theories about how to protect small investors, he believes that people can compromise and find rational solutions, adding that he believes that people can solve human-made problems.
