Prosecutors have demanded a three-year prison term for the former head of an affiliate in connection with the death of a worker at an SPC-affiliated bakery that supplies Paris Baguette bread ingredients.
In a final hearing on three executives and employees, including former SPL CEO Kang Dong-seok, held yesterday (21st) at the Suwon District Court in Pyeongtaek, the prosecution asked the court to sentence former CEO Kang to three years in prison and a fine of 300 million won for SPL corporations.Former representative Kang
is said to have expressed his condolences to the bereaved family in the final argument of the trial, but said he was not convinced to face criminal punishment.
Earlier in October 2022, prosecutors handed over Kang and a corporation to trial on charges of violating the Serious Accident Punishment Act in connection with the death of a worker in his 20s making sandwich sauce ingredients in an SPL factory.
