Now Western countries are "targeted"...Russia Collapses War's Taboos to 'Critical Road' [Now News]

Russia's first hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile launch into Ukraine on Monday has put the war between the two countries at a critical juncture.

In response to Ukraine's first use of Western missiles, the "no-go" of long-range missile use, which both sides had refrained from for 1,000 days, has been lifted.

Moreover, President Vladimir Putin has warned that he could also attack Western countries that support Ukraine.

Amid growing uncertainties coupled with the North Korean military's earlier participation in the war, former U.S. President Donald Trump's return to power, and Russia's approval to revise its nuclear doctrine, concerns are raised that the war against Ukraine could turn into an international war.

Initially, the Ukrainian military claimed that Russia fired an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), but the actual launch was confirmed as a medium-range missile.

However, according to AFP, the missiles launched by Russia on this day can strike a much longer distance than the missiles with a range of 250 to 300 kilometers, such as the US ATACMS and the UK Storm Shadow, which were launched by Ukraine earlier.

Oresynik is estimated to be an intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) with a range of 3,000 to 5,500 kilometers, which responded with a stronger counterattack to Ukraine's attacks.

It also claimed that it was in the West, which first approved the use of missiles in Ukraine, that escalated the conflict.

In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy strongly condemned the "magnitude and brutality of the war" as "evidence that Russia has no interest in peace."

President Zelensky has now urged the international community to respond, saying that not only Ukraine but other countries could be targeted by Russia.

Criticism has also been raised in the West, with NATO saying, "The missile deployment will not change the direction of the war or prevent NATO allies from supporting Ukraine."

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre refuted Russia's claim, citing the North Korean military's participation in the war, saying, "The escalation of the conflict always began in Russia."
