The National Board of Education has decided to reorganize its affiliated specialized committee, which has been controversial that it has coordinated and leaked discussions on the 10-year national education development plan, including the "Dualization of the College Scholastic Ability Test."
The State Council held its 38th meeting at the Government Complex Seoul today and deliberated on the 'reorganization of the mid- to long-term National Education Development Committee and the new appointment of the co-chairmen'.
The fact that the committee discussed important issues such as the dualization of the CSAT and the absolute evaluation of school records was repeatedly leaked, causing confusion inside and outside the organization.
On the 7th of last month, progressive members of the committee called for the reorganization of the committee and a full review of the national education development plan, saying that the committee was virtually crippled by the chairman's dogmatism and lack of collection of opinions.
In a related development, Lee Bae-yong, chairman of the Korean Council of Education, said he expects the new committee to faithfully carry out its professional advisory functions through serious discussions, adding that he will prepare and announce a mid- to long-term national education development plan in March next year.
