White House national security adviser nominee Mike Waltz of the second Trump administration has announced different ending plans for the war in Ukraine and the war in Gaza in the Middle East.
Waltz told Fox News that we must end the war in Ukraine responsibly, and that we must restore deterrence and peace, and get ahead of it rather than respond to escalation.
It is interpreted that Trump reaffirmed his willingness to end the war in Ukraine early, which is feared to turn into a war including Europe and Asia due to North Korea's participation in the war.
Waltz, however, emphasized the creation of a new framework for peace in the Middle East, rather than an early end to the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
Waltz said it was time to reach some agreements, such as real stability in the Middle East and the Abraham Accords years ago, rather than stopping Hamas from repeating its attack on Israel in October last year.
The Abraham Accords refer to the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between Israel and Arab countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco under then-President Trump in 2020.
It is interpreted as a willingness to buy Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu time to wipe out Hamas while creating a new Middle East peace initiative to replace the "two-state solution" that the current Biden administration has emphasized.
Waltz also said he met and consulted with current National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, stressing that the U.S. is a team, although enemies will think a regime change is a time of opportunity.
