Jin Sung-joon, chairman of the policy committee of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized Han Dong-hoon, chairman of the People's Power, for trying to abuse the Dongduk Women's University incident, which has been in conflict over the conversion of coeducational education, as a political firewood.
Chairman Jin said, "I don't intend to defend violence at the floor meeting, but a representative's claim that criticized the students by calling the leader's legal responsibility is a reversal of the truth."
He then pointed out that the cause of this incident was the undemocratic nature of the university, which pushed for the transition of co-education without the knowledge of its members, and that it was not reasonable to criticize only students whose rights were ignored.
He also stressed that Dongduk Women's University should scrap its engineering transition plan and reach consensus through democratic procedures, saying, "We should put aside thin political calculations to gain reflective profits by encouraging gender or generational conflicts."
