Regarding U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's plan to impose additional tariffs on China, the Chinese embassy in the U.S. protested, saying, "There is no winner of the trade and tariff war."
"China believes that economic and trade cooperation between China and the United States is inherently mutually beneficial," Chinese Embassy spokesman Liu Fengyu said in a statement.
He then denied Trump's claim that China lacked efforts to combat drug trafficking, saying that after the agreement between President Joe Biden and President Xi Jinping last year, China took measures to deal with drug trafficking.
Local media, including China's state-run CCTV, also reported in real-time Trump's tariff policy, saying, "Trump is wielding a tariff club again."
Trump said he would impose an additional 10% tariff on China on the day of his inauguration on January 20 next year, citing his response to drug inflows.
