The leadership of the Central District Prosecutors' Office has expressed opposition to the Democratic Party's announcement of passing the impeachment bill against Lee Chang-soo, head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, Cho Sang-won, and Choi Jae-hoon, head of the anti-corruption department, at the plenary session of the National Assembly on the 28th.

Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office 1st Chief Prosecutor Park Seung-hwan, 2nd Chief Prosecutor Gong Bong-sook, and 3rd Chief Prosecutor Lee Sung-sik posted a statement on the prosecution's internal network today (26th), stressing that attempts at unconstitutional and abusive impeachment must be stopped.

Impeachment of prosecutors targeting the results of the investigation itself is a violation of the essential content of the administrative authority and is likely to violate the principle of separation of powers and the rule of law.

He also pointed out that using impeachment as a means of suspension of duty constitutes an abuse of authority even though it is expected to be dismissed by the Constitutional Court due to no reason for impeachment.

He also said that suspending the 4th Chief Prosecutor and the 2nd Director of Anti-Corruption Investigations, who are responsible for investigating and maintaining public prosecutions across the country, will hinder the prosecution's function and the damage will be entirely to the people.
