Israeli military chief Herji Halebi has visited Britain amid speculation that a ceasefire deal between Israel and Lebanese militant Hezbollah is imminent.

Israeli media Times of Israel said Halevi arrived in Britain on the afternoon of the 25th local time and met with military command from various countries before returning home after midnight. It is unusual for the head of the

army to visit abroad during the war, and there is speculation that Halleby's visit is related to the situation of ceasefire negotiations.

The Israeli security cabinet will meet at the military headquarters today at 5:30 p.m. local time to discuss whether to agree to a ceasefire in Lebanon.

Earlier, US and Israeli media reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved the ceasefire in principle yesterday.

The cease-fire proposed by the U.S. to Israel and Hezbollah included a 60-day temporary cease-fire in which Israeli forces withdrew from southern Lebanon and Hezbollah retreated north of the Ritani River.
