The first snow was literally a snow bomb all day.

So far, the snow in Seoul is increasing by more than 18cm, and the snowfall in November is the largest in 117 years since the weather observation.

In the afternoon, a heavy snow warning was issued across Seoul, and Gyeonggi-do Province is expanding its heavy snow warning throughout the south.

I'm connecting with the reporter. Reporter Park Sojung!

It's heavy snow from the first snow of the winter threshold.

Is there no November when it snowed so much in Seoul?

[Reporter]
That's right.

The snowiest year in Seoul in November so far was 1972.

At that time, it fell 12.4cm, and the official snowfall in Seoul from the night to the present exceeded 18cm.

This is the highest amount in 117 years since weather observations began in 1907.

At dawn, more than 20cm fell in Seongbuk-gu and Gangbuk-gu, and during the day, a lot of snow fell in Gwanak-gu, recording a whopping 27.5cm of snow.

Snow fell to 27.9cm in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province, 23.8cm in Ongjin, Incheon, and 22.6cm in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province.

Let's take a look at the situation of the heavy snow special.

In Seoul, a heavy snow warning was issued in the southwest and northwest regions in the morning following the northeastern region at dawn, and the heavy snow warning was in effect for the southeast region as of 2:40 p.m.

In fact, a heavy snow warning has been issued across Seoul, but it has been 14 years since January 2010.

In addition to Gwangju and Yangpyeong in Gyeonggi Province, heavy snow warnings have been issued in most of the metropolitan areas, including Suwon, Yongin, Ansan, Gunpo, Uiwang, Gwangmyeong, Bucheon, Gwacheon, Siheung, Anyang, Seongnam, Pyeongtaek, Hanam Anseong, Hwaseong, Osan, and Incheon.

Snow warnings have been issued for parts of Honam, including Jinan, Muju, and Jangsu in North Jeolla Province, Jincheon, Eumseong, and Cheonan in South Chungcheong Province.

There are places where snow clouds gradually fall to the east as the troughs that affected it until dawn move, and snowballs weaken during the day, but
Snow clouds continue to flow from the west of
and are expected to continue throughout the day as the snow repeats its strength and weakness.

The problem is that the weather is cold and the wind is added to build more snow.

The temperature in Seoul this morning was -1.3 degrees, the lowest this fall, but it was near freezing during the day, and it is getting colder again at -0.6 degrees as of 6 p.m.

Strong winds are expected to blow around 20 meters per second across the country, with the special wind warning extended not only to coastal areas but also to Chungcheong and some inland areas of Gyeonggi Province.

It's just a matter of fact.

The central part of the country will fall up to 20cm by tomorrow?

[Reporter]
That's right.

With snow clouds continuing to come in from the west, another heavy snowfall is expected tonight.

This is because the pressure trough on the upper floor of Korea rotates counterclockwise, and strong snow clouds are introduced once again from tonight.

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) predicted that up to 20cm more snow will fall in the mountains and metropolitan areas of Gangwon Province and 15cm more in Chungcheong, Honam and Jeju by tomorrow.

In particular, it was expected that it could fall up to 25cm in southern Gyeonggi Province.

In particular, as this snow is a "heavy snow" full of moisture, if snow is added in a situation where there is already a lot of snow, outdoor facilities such as greenhouses may collapse, so preparations are needed.

This snow is expected to start to stop gradually tomorrow afternoon.

However, Chungcheong, Honam, and Jeju Island will have snow until the day after tomorrow.
