The Busan Special Act on Global Hub Cities' is a bill that will make the southern region centered on Busan a new growth axis. The plan is to attract companies and investments by applying a wide range of
tax exemptions, tax cuts, visa-free and deregulation, etc., which will greatly help balanced national development and competitiveness.
It was proposed in the 21st National Assembly and the ruling and opposition parties expressed their intention to cooperate, but it was not passed due to the schedule and was proposed again in this National Assembly.
Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon entered a sit-in in front of the National Assembly with a press conference, saying that the bill was tied up due to a severe political dispute, although the ministry's consultation on the bill was over and there was enough political consensus.
"Special Act on Busan Global Herb City, Pass it by the end of this year! Go through! Go through!"
The purpose is to convey the Busan Metropolitan Government's position that it needs to be dealt with as soon as possible as it is not a political dispute bill.
[Park Hyung-joon / Mayor of Busan: Even though it is the most urgently needed bill for people's livelihood, we Busan citizens really don't understand why this bill is still being postponed like this.]
People's Power Busan lawmakers who went on a sit-in together argued that the opposition's cooperation was lukewarm.
[Park Soo-young / Member of the People's Power: The law that the Republic of Korea should develop in a balanced way is the Special Act on Global Hub Cities. People who know all the spirit and know all the contents...]
Mayor Park will actively persuade the National Assembly, such as visiting the conference hall in time for the plenary session of the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee.
In addition, starting with the tent sit-in, the government plans to more actively engage in activities to respond to the bill review process with local politics and civil society.
