Previous trade negotiation chiefs diagnosed that the new U.S. administration is likely to implement trade policies stronger and faster than in the past based on its control of the House and Senate.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held a meeting with former trade negotiators to examine the trade environment following the launch of the new U.S. administration and discuss Korea's response direction.
Participants advised that it is important to continue to promote the importance of the Korea-U.S. trade cooperation relationship to the U.S. during the transition period before the launch of the new U.S. administration.
Former lawmaker Kim Jong-hoon, a former trade minister of the Ministry of Industry, and Park Tae-ho, head of the Korea Institute for International Trade in Gwangjang, a law firm, and Yoo Myung-hee, a visiting professor at Seoul National University's Graduate School of International Trade, attended the meeting.
