The arrest of Hong Won-sik, former chairman of Namyang Dairy Co., who is accused of embezzlement and breach of trust, will be decided as early as today.
The Seoul Central District Court has been interrogating a suspect before arresting Hong, who is suspected of breach of trust under the Specific Economic Crimes Weighted Punishment Act, since 10:30 a.m. today (28th).
Former chairman Hong, who appeared at the court ahead of the screening, entered the government building without responding to reporters asking whether he admitted the allegations of private credit card misappropriation and breach of trust.
Former chairman Hong is accused of causing KRW 10 billion in damage to the company by operating Namyang Dairy Products, a listed corporation, and inserting a company run by his relatives.
He is also accused of receiving billions of won from suppliers in exchange for transactions and using corporate cards privately.
In addition, Namyang Dairy ordered its employees to destroy evidence before they were investigated in 2021 for falsely advertising that it was effective in preventing COVID-19 in Bulgarian dairy products.
