All four men and women who seriously injured two middle-aged men during a gang fight on the streets of Songdo International City in Incheon were sentenced to prison.
On the 28th, the Incheon District Court's Criminal Department 12 (Chief Judge Shim Jae-wan) sentenced A (42) to 17 years in prison on charges of attempted murder. At the same time, A was placed on probation for five years after being released from prison and banned from approaching the victim.
In addition, two men in their 30s, including B, who were charged with special injuries, were sentenced to one year and a half in prison, respectively, and A's wife in her 20s, who was charged with aiding and abetting murder, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
The court explained, "A went to meet the victim, who was in conflict over money, and committed an attempted murder," adding, "I prepared a weapon in advance and asked other defendants to join me."
"I tried to stab the victim with a weapon, but it was only an attempt," he said. "The victim became unconscious due to the accused's crime, and daily life became impossible without the help of others."
"Considering the circumstances and methods of the crime, the guilt is heavy," he said, adding, "We acknowledge the act of stabbing the victim with a weapon and consider the fact that we paid a deposit for the victim."
In a final hearing last month, the prosecution demanded a 20-year prison term for A. Two people, including B, were sentenced to six years in prison and A's wife to seven years in prison, respectively.
A was arrested and charged with attempting to kill a man in his 40s by stabbing C several times on the street in Songdo International City, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, at around 10:20 p.m. on May 26.
Two people, including A's acquaintance, B, were also indicted on charges of hitting and injuring C and his party, and A's wife was also charged with helping the crime, including luring the victim.
As a result of the investigation, it was found that A committed the crime while arguing with one of the victims over a financial transaction conflict.
