Grain Act Passes National Assembly Led By Opposition to Buy Government In Case of Crash Rice Prices

2024.11.29 AM 02:05
An amendment to the Grain Management Act, which requires the government to implement price measures, such as purchasing excess rice production, has been passed by the National Assembly led by the opposition party.

The amendment to the grain law was approved by 173 out of 254 lawmakers in favor, 80 against and one abstaining at the plenary session.

The Democratic Party argued that the grain law could solve the difficulties of farm management due to the plunge in rice prices and abnormal climate and stabilize rice prices, but the party opposed it, saying that the power of the people causes an oversupply of rice and increases the burden of taxpayers' money.
