Residents of the five islands in the West Sea first rally in Yongsan, "Ongjin-gun, to a special security zone."

The Emergency Response Committee for the Return of the Five Islands Ongjin Army held a press conference in front of the War Memorial in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the morning of the 2nd and urged the government to guarantee the right to pursue happiness under the constitution by preparing security measures for the five islands.

To this end, residents demanded that Ongjin County in Incheon be reorganized into a special security zone and that the five islands in the West Sea be added as the area where the UN forces are stationed to relieve security anxiety.

At the same time, he insisted that Yeonpyeong New Port, which has not been promoted due to security concerns, be prepared to guarantee the right to move residents in the island area, and to build a large-sized ferry "Caférie-ho" connecting Baengnyeong Island and Incheon Port.

With more than 100 people participating in the rally, the emergency committee delivered a petition signed by 1,300 residents to the president's office.

The five islands in the West Sea, which have been exposed repeatedly to North Korean artillery and gray tactical provocations, refer to Baengnyeong Island, Yeonpyeong Island, Daecheong Island, Socheong Island, and Udo Island, where two civilians were actually killed during the North's artillery provocation in 2010.
