In an international patent application under the International Patent Cooperation Treaty, Samsung Electronics has been listed as the 5 millionth application.
The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) announced today (2nd) that WIPO, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), has released Samsung Electronics' application as its 5 millionth international patent application.
Samsung Electronics' international patent application invention is a "device and image processing method" that obtains clear pictures without distortion when taking smartphone cameras and improves focus mismatch that occurs in the process of correcting shaking.
Samsung Electronics ranks second among global companies in terms of international patent applications after China's Huawei.
The Patent Cooperation Treaty is an international treaty joined by 158 countries around the world, and if an application is submitted to only one patent office of a member country without the need for an individual patent application for each country, the effect of an application to all member countries can be seen.
The Korean Intellectual Property Office said that the 5 millionth international patent application of our company is an example of proving that Korea's patents are that far ahead, and explained that it will also support patent applications by small and medium-sized companies and startups in the future.
