An impeachment motion has been filed against Philippine Vice President Sarah Duterte, who said she ordered her bodyguard to assassinate the president if she was killed.
Opposition lawmakers who have filed the impeachment claim that Duterte violated the Constitution, committed large-scale corruption and other felonies by threatening to kill President Ferdinand Marcos.
He also criticized former President Rodrigo Duterte, Duterte's father, for allowing unlawful killings of drug suspects.
Duterte, who is in political conflict with President Marcos, claimed during a press conference on the 23rd of last month that he had a plan to assassinate him and said he ordered Marcos and others to be killed if he was killed.
In response, the presidential palace condemned it as a "serious threat to the head of state," and the National Investigation Agency immediately launched an investigation.
The National Bureau of Investigation issued a subpoena to appear on the 29th of last month, but Duterte did not respond.
The House of Representatives' review of the impeachment motion is expected to take several months.
