During the December 3 emergency martial law, the martial law command approved the helicopter carrying members of the Special Warfare Command to enter the National Assembly.
Army Chief of Staff Park An-soo, the martial law commander at the time, said in an urgent question to the National Assembly's National Defense Committee yesterday (10th) that the helicopter seemed to have been approved because it was an emergency helicopter when it moved to the National Assembly.
In this regard, General Park An-soo explained the circumstances at the time, saying that the head of the intelligence operation department at the Army Headquarters asked over the phone that there was an aircraft moving to the water defense area, and that he understood because the operation was in progress.
This fact was revealed while lawmaker Bu Seung-chan of the Democratic Party of Korea asked Kim Se-woon, head of the Special Operations Aviation Group, about how the helicopter entered the National Assembly late.
When lawmaker Bu Seung-chan asked if the Capital Defense Command held off when the helicopter entered the parliamentary airspace based on data obtained from the military authorities, Kim Se-woon said yes.
In response, Lee Jin-woo, commander of the water defense command, explained that the water defense usually controls whether to allow entry into the no-fly zone, but martial law was declared and went to martial law.
