At the time of the December 3 emergency martial law, about half of the police task force was deployed to the National Assembly to prepare for rallies and demonstrations in Seoul.
According to the data submitted by Jang Kyung-tae of the Democratic Party of Korea from the National Police Agency, there were 32 units under the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency that were deployed to the National Assembly from 10:35 p.m. on the 3rd to 3 a.m. on the 4th when martial law was declared.
Of these, 15 units were deployed after 1 a.m. on the 4th, when the National Assembly passed a request to lift the emergency martial law, and 24 units of the task force were also deployed to respond to the presidential office in Yongsan.
Representative Jang argued that as many as 56 of the 65 units operated by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency were mobilized for unconstitutional and illegal martial law, and that Cho Ji-ho and Kim Bong-sik, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, should be held accountable.
