The Seoul Northern District Court sentenced A, a former aide to Shin Young-dae, a lawmaker of the Democratic Party of Korea, to a year and two months in prison for pocketing 50 million won for soliciting solar energy projects.

The court revealed the reason for the sentencing, saying that the crime method was poor, such as stealing and utilizing other people's accounts, and that it tried to destroy evidence by forcing a broker to make false statements.

Mr. A was put on trial on charges of taking 20 million won in cash and 37.5 million won in the name of salary from the official in charge of the Saemangeum solar power project construction order.

Representative Shin Young-dae was also recently put on trial for allegedly taking bribes related to the solar power business and manipulating public opinion during the party's primary.
