K-POP is emerging as a folk song as the younger generation leads the rally culture in the impeachment of the president.

In the SNS chat room, the so-called "impeachment playlist" is circulating.

The song was sung by Girls' Generation, a girl group that started singing "Song of Resistance" during the protests at Ewha Womans University, which triggered the candlelight vigils against state affairs eight years ago.

The impeachment is reverberating across the campus in front of the National Assembly.

Featuring powerful melodies and grim lyrics, the song's weekly listening increased by nearly 50% compared to the previous week immediately after the emergency martial law.

It is an unusual reverse on a music site where competition for new groups is fierce.

As various age groups participate in the rally, from "apartments" that gained global popularity this year to K-pop music that flowed are being summoned to "ttechang."

Unlike in the past candlelight protests, idol music that is not easy to sing along flows
Among the
generations, the impeachment play list is circulating around SNS.

Billboard, an American music media outlet, introduced that K-pop, the driving force of the Korean economy, has largely distanced itself from politics, but is now being used for citizens' slogans.

If folk songs that traditionally dominated the assembly scene were "message-oriented," K-pop is functioning as a tool to boost the enthusiasm of the assembly.

[Kim Young-dae / Popular music critic: New music that sets it apart from the previous generation. A new way of protest, a new way of protest, a way of resistance, and this culture will continue because they feel a lot of pride and efficacy in becoming new subjects themselves.]

As LED light sticks replace real candles and K-pop has emerged as a new folk song, the assembly site is also undergoing a generational change.
