The Criminal Investigation Office of a high-ranking government official investigating the emergency martial law situation has asked the prosecution, which had a conflict of investigative rights, to hand over the case again.
The Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit said yesterday evening (13th) that it again requested the prosecution to demand the right to transfer the case related to the so-called "declaration of emergency martial law."
Until now, the prosecution and the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit have been at odds over the right to investigate emergencies such as rebellion.
Earlier, the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit claimed that the prosecution and police are obliged to respond to the right to demand transfer of the case if the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit deems it more appropriate to investigate in light of the controversy over the degree and fairness of the investigation under the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit Act.
He also said that the deadline for the response of the official letter to the prosecution will be 18th, adding that further discussions are possible on the scope of the transfer.
However, the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit explained that the police, who are conducting a joint investigation, will specifically request a transfer after examining the progress of the investigation.
