Rep. Ahn Kyu-baek of the Democratic Party of Korea said on the 3rd that more than 1,600 military personnel were confirmed to be on standby during the emergency martial law incident.
According to Ahn's data obtained from military officials, 1,644 military personnel were organized to seize major bases at the time, including 211 from the Capital Defense Command, 1,090 from the Army Special Forces Command, and 328 from the Armed Forces Counterintelligence Command.
Among them, counterintelligence forces were divided into six groups and deployed to the Suwon NEC and the National Assembly, and some of the agents were armed with rubber bullets and gas guns.
Some claimed that the martial law army, which was deployed to the National Assembly at the time of martial law, brought nearly 6,000 rounds of live ammunition.
Rep. Seo Young-kyo of the Democratic Party said at the time that the 707 Special Task Force brought 5,940 rounds of K-1 machine gun live rounds, 9mm ordinary rounds for pistols, and 1,980 rounds each.
Lawmaker Seo criticized Yoon Suk Yeol's remarks that he ordered the withdrawal of troops as soon as martial law was lifted by the National Assembly, saying that only the 707 Special Forces' live ammunition is this much.
