As the National Assembly passed the impeachment bill against President Yoon Suk Yeol, the time for impeachment will now pass in the Constitutional Court.

Reporter Kim Chul-hee summarized what process remains from now on after crossing the National Assembly threshold.

The impeachment resolution against President Yoon Suk Yeol will be sent to the Constitutional Court and the presidential office by the chairman of the National Assembly Judiciary Committee.

After that, when the resolution is received by the Constitutional Court, the case number will be assigned, and the chief judge will be decided among the nine constitutional judges through a computerized lottery,
From this point on, the clock of the impeachment trial begins to work in earnest.

Impeachment does not address separate legal requirements.

Therefore, the hearing begins immediately from the Ministry of Justice, and the chairman of the Judiciary Committee takes on the role of the prosecutor, or in fact the plaintiff, as if arguing in a general court.

President Yoon, the party and the defendant, must attend on the first hearing date with his duties suspended, but there is no way to force him.

Even if it doesn't come out, the psychology continues.

Even if the Constitutional Court is currently a six-member system with three vacancies, it can be decided.

However, it is possible to decide on impeachment with the approval of more than six judges, so there should be unanimous agreement.

[Jang Young-soo / Professor of law at Korea University] In the case of President Yoon, it will take at least three months to judge in the impeachment prosecution. Then the appointment of a successor (constitutional) judge comes first.]
In order for an impeachment trial to take place in a normal system, the ruling party and the opposition party must agree to elect three constitutional judges, who are responsible for the National Assembly, to fill the vacancy.
Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, acting president, will appoint them
