The Defense Acquisition Program Administration said it has signed a contract with the Korea Airports Corporation to introduce tactical navigation equipment for ships worth 10 billion won.
The DAPA plans to replace aging tactical navigation equipment for foreign naval ships with domestic equipment developed by the Korea Airports Corporation by 2027.
Tactical navigation equipment for ships is essential for the Navy to carry out maritime air operations and provides information such as defense and distance to aircraft, including maritime operation helicopters.
Currently, the Navy's tactical navigation equipment for ships, which all rely on imported equipment, has been criticized for taking a long time to recover in case of failure, making it difficult to operate them stably.
